Manchesterism

Documenting the social, political and economic ecosystem developing in Manchester at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. The influence of non-conformists, the Humboldsian model of education and counter movements such as the Anti-corn law league creating instituions such as Owen’s College, the Manchester Mechanics Institute and the Manchester Athenaem.

These forerunners paved the way for the higher education institutes in Manchester and their eventual amalgamation.
